We are sad to announce the passing of Gloria Davey – a Life Member of Brisbane Jazz Club since 1987 and a sad loss to the world of jazz.

Gloria was well-known as Lady Jazz from her many years of radio work in the Cleveland and Brisbane area.

Her jazz-filled life saw her through to a grand 94 years of age just short of her next birthday, which would have been on 23 April.

Gloria was celebrated as the founder of the Wynnum-Manly Jazz Festival in the year 2000 to foster jazz in Wynnum and South East Queensland, enjoying the loyalty of the Navy Band for many years.

The festival was held on the foreshores attracting crowds of around 2000 attendees.
